NEW DELHI: WhatsApp seems to be on a record-breaking spree. From its inception in 2009 to being acquired by Facebook for $19 billion in 2014, the instant messaging app certainly has come a long way. Last year, the company announced that it had reached the landmark figure of 1 billion monthly active users. Now, WhatsApp claims that it has touched the magical figure of 1 billion users per day.
“Just last year, we shared that one billion people around the world use WhatsApp every month. Today, we are excited and proud to share that one billion people around the world use WhatsApp every day to stay in touch with their family and friends,” said the company blog post.
The Facebook-owned company further said that it is committed to deliver more features in future and making the app more reliable, simple and secure. WhatsApp also shared other statistics. The company has touched 1.3bn monthly active users and witnesses around 55 billion messages set by users every day. Furthermore, WhatsApp users share almost 4.5 billion images and 1 billion videos every day.
