Nexon

Tata Motors on Thursday flagged off the first batch of Nexon – its latest SUV – from its plant in Ranjangaon. First showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo in New Delhi, Nexon is the company’s fourth passenger vehicle under the IMPACT design philosophy.

Scheduled for an official launch in the festive season later in the year, the company has announced that it will soon begin delivering Nexon to dealerships across the country. The car will be offered with a 1.2L turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.5L diesel engine option which are paired to a six-speed gearbox. The company claims that the new powertrains are performance oriented and will have a relatively high fuel efficiency.

Designed at Tata Motors’ in-house facility in Pune, the engines have been indigenously developed with inputs from renowned global technology suppliers like AVL, Bosch, Mahale and Honeywell, the company also said.

Nexon – which is short for ‘Next-On’ and signifies next level of things – will take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport, when launched.
