Speculations are doing rounds that Power Star Pawan Kalyan who is also the founder of Janasena Party is going to meet Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu following an invitation from the latter. Apparently, the meeting has been set up to discuss the mysterious Uddanam crisis in Srikakulam.
According to a report released in 2015, more than 4500 people had died in the last ten years of Uddanam Nephropathy, and around 34,000 people were suffering from kidney diseases in Uddanam alone. The Indian Council of Medical Research(ICMR) along with researchers of Harvard University, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Andhra Medical College and NTR University of Health Sciences have looked into the matter and have initially identified excessive levels of silica in water as the cause.
Earlier this year, he brought the issue of a kidney ailment, termed Uddanam Nephropathy, that had been taking a toll in Uddanam of Srikakulam district to everyone’s notice. Following his visit to Itchapuram to a meet the victims of kidney disorders the Power Star demanded that the AP government should allocate Rs 100 crore to provide immediate relief to kidney patients of Uddanam region.
