NEW DELHI: The yet-to-be launched Nokia 8 has seen its fair share of leaks and rumours in the past few weeks. Adding to those plethoras of leaks, a new report by the Venture Beat website shows the unannounced smartphone from the front and back giving a clear indicator of what to expect in terms of design.
From the looks of it, the Nokia 8 will sport nearly the same front look as the already launched Nokia 6 smartphone. It will have a physical button below the display along with two capacitive keys on either side. The front-facing camera, speaker grille and the sensors will be placed on top. At the back, the smartphone is seen featuring dual-rear camera setup with ZEISS lenses, autofocus sensor and a LED flash, all placed one below the other in a long capsule-shaped enclosure.
Rumours indicate that the Nokia 8 will run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box and could see the light of the day as soon as July 31. The device has also made an appearance on the Geekbench smartphone benchmarking website, revealing some key specifications. The benchmark listing suggests the Nokia 8 to sport a 5.3-inch QHD screen. It could be powered by the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor under-the-hood, clubbed with either 4GB or 6GB RAM. There two rear cameras are expected to include 13MP sensors.
As spotted by the Winfuture website earlier, the Nokia 8 has also been listed online by a Scandinavian retailer for EUR 589, which roughly turns out to be Rs 43,600, in Steel, Blue, Gold/Blue and Gold/Copper colour variants. There is no confirmation from Nokia or HMD Global about the handset.
For now, HMD Global has launched two ultra-budget feature phones in India, the refreshed versions of Nokia 105 and Nokia 130. The ‘new’ Nokia 105 costs Rs 999 while the Nokia 130 costs Rs 1149. The former will be hitting the shelves first.
