Jim Corbett National Park

This national park in India, established by famous hunter Jim Corbett, has to be the top one on this list. Located close to Nainital, Jim Corbett is one of the best national parks in India to spot down Tigers. Apart from tigers, you can also spot several species of deer, leopards, jackals, black bear, red foxes, sloth and monkeys. This 520 square kilometre area is divided into four parts namely– Durgadevi, Dhikala, Jhirna, and Bijrani. Generally, tourists book jeep safaris in early morning and afternoons, however, you can also choose trekking under the guidance of an instructor. The best time to visit this place is from November to June, and it takes almost Rs4000 a jeep safari.

Gir Forest National Park

Shifting from Tiger, now we will focus on Lions. India is not a great country to spot a lion in forests, but Gir national park is an exception. Gir is one of such only national parks in India that conserve Lions. It is a great place to face Asiatic Lions and observe natural habitats of lions. Before 1990, this forest used to be the hunting place for Nawabs of Junagadh, however later it turned into a sanctuary. When it started, there were only 12 lions, but with time the number has grown to more than 600. Apart from lions, tourists can also spot sambar, chinkara, chital, wild boar, blackbuck, etc. The best time to visit Gir is from December to March.

Sundarban National Park

If you want to have a taste of forest along with rivers full of crocodiles, Sudarban National Park is the only option. Rather it is one of such national parks in India that preserves Bengal Tigers. Located on the Ganges Delta, West Bengal, Sudarban is a huge mangrove forest that is not only a Biosphere for tigers and crocodiles; it has amazing varieties of plants as well. The only way to travel across this park is by boat; there are no jeep safaris. As the Tigers in Sudarban swim in the saline waters, one might get lucky enough to spot tigers sunbathing during the time of November-December. However, the best time to visit Sudarban is from December to February.

Satpura National Park

Covering an area of 530 square kilometres, Satpura is a home of unique animals that range from leopards to several species of bird. Also, this national park in India is considered as an adventure place that includes dense forest, sandstone peaks and narrow gorges. Tourists can choose jeep safari, elephant safari or boat safari, according to their requirements. This national park also has the option to camp overnight in some parts of the forest. The best time to visit Satpura in between October to April.

Bandhavgarh National Park

Located in Madhya Pradesh, Bandhavgarh National Park is one of the most famous national parks in India. It is home to various species of the tiger; however, the main attraction of Bandhavgarh is leopards. Apart from these, this national park has other animals too such as deer, wild boar, Indian Bison, Sambar, barking deer, etc. The best time to visit this national park is from November to May.
