The arrival of a baby can change your life in ways you can’t even imagine. Whether it was a planned or unplanned baby, you and your partner have nine months to prepare for the impending arrival. Here’s what to expect when you become a parent for the first time…
- If you’re lucky, your baby will spend most of his/ her time sleeping (peacefully) in the first couple of months. Take advantage of this time because by the time your baby starts sitting up and crawling, you will be on your toes for the next four years at least!
- Feeling overwhelmed and flustered is a part of every new parent’s biodata and you’re no different. Don’t hesitate to ask for help — your family and friends will only be too glad to step in.
- Having a baby often means that your relationship with your partner takes a backseat. However, you both need to make an effort to make it stronger. Go on a date night once a month so that the relationship doesn’t suffer. Divide responsibilities equally so that either one of you doesn’t feel over-burdened.
- Don’t go overboard by calling your doctor every time the baby sneezes. Learn to trust your instinct and go with the flow. If you like, keep a diary where you note down your baby’s progress.
