Gurudwara Shri Hemkund Sahib Ji is popularly known as Hemkund Sahib is spiritual place of Sikhs located at village Chamoli of Uttarakand district, India. Shrine is devoted to tenth guru of Sikhs, Guru Gobind Singh who mentioned about Dasam Granth which refers about Guruji. Hemkund Sahib is very beautiful place located near glacial lake surrounded with seven tallest mountains, which is observed at a height of 4632 meters elevation of Himalayas. Joshimath is a town near to Gobindghat, place on Badrinath to Rishikesh highway. Mythological history of Hemkunt is believed as mentioned here.
Hemkund Sahib is also popular as Hemkunt, which means “Snow Bowl”(Hem = Snow, Kunt = Bowl). This place is mentioned in Dasam Granth as Pandu Ranga Raja’s Yoga place, and also about God asking Guru Gobind Singh, who was in meditation have to take birth at Hemkunt.

Hemkunt will be open for pilgrims on 25th May( here in the year 2017), and will be closed on 10th October. Many tourists visit this shrine and, this made many tourism providers to prepare packages accordingly. How to reach Hemkund Sahib
Railways : Gobind ghat is the nearest railway-station to Hemkunt, which distances 170 kilometers from Rishikesh. One has to trek about 20 kilometers to reach Hemkunt from Gobindghat.
Airways : Jolly Grant Airport of Dehra Dun is the nearest airport to Hemkunt. Helicopter facility is also available for special pilgrims who opt to visit Hemkunt without trekking and for those who cant trek.

As Hemkunt is located on the Himalayan regions it is expected to scale very low temperatures. Different medical camps were organised by volunteers for those pilgrims who choose to trek to visit Hemkunt.
