GURUGRAM: An Assamese actress and singer committed suicide on Monday at her Gurugram residence. Bidisha Bezbaruah (27) was a popular face of the Assamese media industry and Garhwal film industry. Most recently, she acted in Ranbir Kapoor-Katrina Kaif starrer Jagga Jasoos that released last Friday. She was famous for the role of Rinu in drama Xanto Xisto Hristu Pusto Mihadusto.
Bidisha hailed from Uzan Bazaar in Guwahati. She got married to Nisheeth Jha, a Gujarati on April 28 last year. Jha works as a pre-rains manager at AFCONS India.
Lately the couple was having a marital discord. She was found hanging with her dupatta on Monday evening at her residence at around 7:30pm.
She did not leave a suicide note, but deceased’s father Ashwini Kumar Bezbaruah alleged that Jha was having an extra marital affair which bothered his daughter.
Bidisha’s father wrote in her complaint that she had called him at 5:08pm about her desire to divorce her husband. He had even called Jha and asked him to go to Gurugram as Bidisha was really stressed, but the husband refused.
After this Bidisha told her father that “let me take my own decision of life”. After which she switched off her phone.
The post-mortem was conducted on Monday evening which confirmed hanging as the cause of death. No other injury marks were found on the deceased’s body.
Bidisha had moved into a two BHK flat on the ninth floor flat in Sushant Apartments, Sector 34 on Sunday. Her husband was travelling to Mumbai for work at the time. Cops suspect that the couple had an argument over the phone and she committed suicide.
“He called the broker who had got them the house and told him that his wife is unwell, and she immediately needs to be taken to the hospital,” said inspector Gaurav Phogat, SHO at Sushant Lok police station.
When TOI visited the society, the house was found to be locked by the police.
However, the RWA president Atul Dev said that “The broker found the house to be locked from inside and Bidisha did not open despite multiple knocks. He then called the security guards and they broke the door open. They found her hanging, there was not a single piece of furniture in the house. All the cartoons were still packed. They then called me and the police were informed. Cops took down the body and completed the legal formalities”.
The next door neighbour Ragini Mewara, an interior designer said ‘we know nothing about her because she moved in a day ago and ended her life. We never got a chance to interact’.
